Peter J. Sproule is a graduate of Carthage College, a Fulbright Research Scholar, and a past participant in Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX). Currently, he is in Munich to research the life and work of the Bavarian fashion illustrator Hans Fischach with the support of the Von Parish Costume Library and Munich Stadtmuseum.

Through painting, drawing, and illustration, Sproule explores the genre of portraiture. Appropriating imagery from film, collage, and social media, he uses portraits as a means of autobiographical expression. In his painting, areas of naturalism mix with abstract forms, and contrasting values in limited palettes blend on the surface.
